Consultant Psychiatrist

A community-facing rehabilitation and recovery service for women over 18 is seeking a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist. This 24-bed facility is located in Birmingham, providing support to individuals with complex mental health and personality disorders, including those detained under the Mental Health Act.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for overseeing the admission process, including conducting pre-admission assessments. You will act as the Responsible Clinician, working alongside a multi-disciplinary team, including a Specialty Doctor, Principal Psychologist, Senior Occupational Therapist, Registered Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses, and support staff.
In this role, you'll have opportunities to collaborate with other professionals in the region and receive support from leadership, ensuring a robust and cohesive approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the referral and admission process.
- Act as the Responsible Clinician for patients, ensuring continuity of care.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Liaise with NHS partners to facilitate the safe transition of patients back into the community with ongoing support.
Requirements:
- Experience working in inpatient settings with patients with mental health challenges.
- Experience working with individuals with forensic histories is advantageous.
- Consultant-level experience, with the ability to provide training.
- Full GMC registration, including being on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry.
