Merco Medical Staffing is seeking an experienced and driven Consultant Anaesthetist to join our client NHS Trusts in the Midlands. This is an exciting expansion role offering the opportunity to work with a dynamic and highly skilled General Anaesthetic team, delivering high-quality services across a wide range of specialties.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will provide professional and progressive anaesthetic services across multiple specialties, including obstetrics, bariatrics, colorectal surgery, and more. There is scope to develop special interests in Obstetric Anaesthesia, Bariatrics, Colorectal Anaesthesia, Pre-assessment, and Simulation or Medical Education.
The post offers 10 PAs per week, with two additional PAs negotiable following a review. A personalised job plan will be agreed with the Clinical Director upon appointment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality anaesthetic care across a range of clinical areas
- Collaborate with the General Anaesthetic team to provide anaesthetic services to multiple specialties
- Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement projects to enhance patient care
- Engage in the development of special interests such as obstetric anaesthesia, bariatrics, pre-assessment, or education
- Support and mentor junior doctors, contributing to teaching and training initiatives within the department
Qualifications:
- Basic medical degree
- Full MRCP or equivalent
- FRCA or equivalent qualification
- Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
- CCT (or proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview)
- European Community Rights
- CESR
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
Clinical Effectiveness and Experience:
- Extensive experience in all aspects of anaesthesia, including Higher Specialist Training
- Demonstrated experience in conducting clinical audits or quality improvement projects
- Strong decision-making abilities based on evidence and clinical audit findings
- Ability to handle complaints and respond promptly to clinical issues
